Terms of Service
Last updated July 9, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Tangnt website, the early-access waitlist, and the Tangnt application. By using any of them you agree to these terms. Tangnt is currently in private testing, so some details will evolve as the product matures.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and the makers of Tangnt (“Tangnt”, “we”, “us”). If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website or the app.
2. The service
Tangnt is a knowledge-capture application for macOS that saves what you are reading, researches it in the background, and connects it into a personal knowledge graph. This website markets the product and lets you join a waitlist for early access. The app is provided while in active development, and features may change, break, or be removed.
3. Early access and the waitlist
Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access. Access is offered at our discretion as capacity opens up. During private testing the service is provided on an evaluation basis and may be interrupted, reset, or discontinued without notice.
4. Your account and eligibility
When accounts become available you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use Tangnt.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Tangnt to capture, store, or process content you do not have the right to use, or that is unlawful.
- Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent usage limits, security, or metering of the service.
- Resell, sublicense, or abuse the AI capabilities provided through the service, including by automating bulk requests.
- Use the service to violate the rights of others.
6. Your content
The notes, screenshots, and other material you capture (“Your Content”) belong to you. Tangnt stores Your Content locally on your device. You grant us the limited permission needed to process Your Content in order to provide the service — for example, sending a capture to our backend and AI providers so it can be researched, summarised, and connected. You are responsible for Your Content and for having the right to capture it. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is handled.
7. Third-party services and sources
Tangnt relies on third-party AI, search, and infrastructure providers, and surfaces links and summaries drawn from the web. We do not control third-party content and are not responsible for its accuracy. AI- generated summaries, research, and quiz grading can be wrong — treat them as a starting point, not authoritative fact.
8. Intellectual property
The Tangnt software, website, branding, and design are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not grant you any rights in them beyond the limited right to use the service as permitted here.
9. Disclaimers
Tangnt is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that captured research will be accurate or complete. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything important.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tangnt will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the service.
11. Changes to the service and these terms
We may modify the service or these terms as the product develops. When we make material changes to these terms we will update the date above. Continuing to use Tangnt after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using Tangnt at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. Notes stored locally on your device remain yours.
